For its limelight Paris-New York collection, Swiss luxury watch and jewelry marque Piaget chose the Icelandic capital-the mid point between the two cities-to show offs its brilliance.
Anything above 16 C is considered a heatwave in Reykjavik. Yet with temperatures dipping to an Eskimo-friendly minutes 10 degrees in Icelandic capital in January-just cold enough to wrap the Fendi chinchilla or Gucci astrakhan fur piece round your neck-Piaget was able to stoke desires and heat things up.
Earlier this year, the Richemont-owned Swiss watch and jewelry brand dazzled the international press with its collection of watches and jewelry pieces in a preview of what it launched at salon de la Haute Horlorgerie fair in april.
Now, while the land of Sigur Ros and Bjork may experience more than 20 hours of darkness during wintry months, the fire and the brilliance of the thousands of diamond in Piaget’s Limelight Paris-New York collection simply warned the hearts of those present.
And for those who wonder why Reykjavik, there’s a simple answer: this collection took inspiration from the spirit and aesthetics of these two world cities: Paris and New York. And Reykjavik is at the exact geographical midpoint between them. So, where better to showcase Piaget’s precious pieces than here?
