F1 Singapore: Boost Local Economy

What is certain is that Singapore’s economy is in for a significant boost, both in the immediate future and in the longer term. This being Singapore’s inaugural Grand Prix, it may even be that there is an added benefit from expanded audience curious to watch the first running of the event.

The Singapore Grand Prix will be broadcast live in virtually every nation on the planet. However, the audience numbers are difficult to predict, other than to say they will be huge. The FIA, Formula One’s governing body, claims that F1 has the world’s biggest television audience with some 55 billion viewers in total over a whole season. Singapore is now set to cash in on that unrivaled opportunity to sell itself.

Such is the popularity of the sport and so great are the economic benefits to host venues that many cities actively court Bernie Ecclestone, Formula One’s Boss, to persuade him to add them to the annual racing calendar.
